Sicilia Agate

The Sicilia Agate series porcelain tiles originate from the Achates (Agate) River valley on the Italian island of Sicily—the very place where this multicolored gemstone was once discovered in abundance. The agate of the coastal mountains was formed through hydrothermal fluids rising from the Etna volcanic activity zone into shallower depths. As temperature and pressure dropped, silica underwent leaching and transformation, eventually crystallizing into agate.

Listening to the voice of minerals: “Stones from other mountains can be used to polish jade.” The Sicilia Agate series perfectly recreates the diverse crystalline forms found in natural agate: some appear as dense, massive blocks; others as spherulitic, radiating, or finely fibrous structures; still others as concentric layers, regular banded patterns, or stalactitic formations.

The product offers an extremely rich palette of colors—white, milky stalactite tones, gray, pale blue, pale red, brown, or black—interweaving and reflecting one another. Lace-like textures layer upon layer, colliding with the semi-translucent microcrystalline ground, presenting nobility and exquisite refinement in the most vivid and complete way.
